Claims $50,000 top prize on Fabulous 5s scratch-off
A woman from Snow Hill learned just how exciting Valentine’s Day can be after Cupid’s arrow brought her the gift of Lottery luck. The State of Maryland retiree purchased a Fabulous 5s scratch-off that sent her heart aflutter when she revealed its $50,000 top prize!
The former Central Collections Unit worker said she was treating herself when she purchased the $5 scratch-off at the Super Soda Center on 5318 Snow Hill Road in Snow Hill. “I was my own sweetheart that day,” said the winner.
She scratched the instant ticket in the store. When she revealed her symbols, a five emblem appeared over a prize to indicate her win. The 69-year-old squinted at the prize under the emblem and, at first, wasn’t sure what to make of it. “I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me,” she said.
Once she was certain she had won $50,000, she secretly admired her win for a moment more before quietly leaving the store. The happy woman headed home to share the news with her family and made her first call to her sister.
Her family reports that our lucky winner is one of the most giving people they know. It’s in her nature to help people. The Worcester County resident plans to continue giving, beginning with her family, and will also use the prize to pay off a few small bills. “I’m very happy. This is a beautiful thing,” said the winner.
For selling the top-prize ticket, the Super Soda Center will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. There are two more $50,000 top-prize tickets in the stores awaiting discovery.
