Regular Pick 3 / Pick 4 player finds luck with Bonus Match 5
A southwest Baltimore welder who dabbles with the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game is enjoying a brilliant arc of beginner’s luck. John Dunaway, an experienced Pick 3 and Pick 4 player, just hit the $50,000 Bonus Match 5 jackpot with his selection of five random numbers.
“I just decided to try the game on a hunch and won a couple of times,” John said. The 66-year-old decided to keep playing the same combination of random numbers and on June 4 he hit again – this time for the jackpot prize.
“I handed the ticket to the clerk to check and he said ‘Man, you got yourself a winner.’ After that, I was good to go,” John said.
The retiree worked at Baltimore’s Bethlehem Steel and a marine terminal before going into business for himself. Now, the southwest Baltimore native welds decorative and functional wrought iron and markets a locking vehicle tag system he invented called Taglock.
The entrepreneur is considering a party to celebrate his jackpot win but plans to spend most of his winnings on his businesses. The windfall gives him the opportunity to increase production of his invention, for example.
“I don’t flaunt money, I invest it,” John said. He bought his lucky ticket at BNG Cut Rate Liquors at 1538 West Baltimore Street in Baltimore.
