Special Lottery Numbers Yield Explosive Fourth of July Weekend Win

Reisterstown man takes home $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize

A Baltimore County man is attributing his $50,000 Maryland Lottery win to a very special person who recently passed away – his mother. He played special lucky numbers, including her birth date, in the July 3 Bonus Match 5 drawing and won the game’s top prize!

The lucky man plays the same numbers each time for Bonus Match 5 and has won significant prizes in the past. Most of his wins, said the 55-year-old, occur at special times.

“It seems I always hit around a holiday,” he said. “These are good numbers that I have.”

The United Parcel Service retiree bought just one ticket at St. John’s Sunoco in Baltimore on Friday, July 3. The Reisterstown resident didn’t check the winning numbers until the Fourth of July, when he looked them up using the Maryland Lottery app on his phone. He immediately recognized his lucky digits.

“My ticket was in my car,” said the happy winner. “I ran outside to grab it.”

The fortunate player then checked his ticket against the numbers on his phone. He was correct and the numbers matched!

“This is very exciting,” he said, “and the timing is perfect.” The married man plans to use the winnings for home improvements and for a trip with his wife. He’ll keep playing his lucky numbers, too, in hopes of racking up more Lottery prizes.

Also a winner in the July 3 drawing is the retailer, which is located at 11701 Reisterstown Road in Baltimore. For selling the top-prize ticket in the game, St. John’s Sunoco earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
