Baltimore man surprised by Superfecta bet success
Four speedy Racetrax horses gave a retired iron worker his first victorious ride into the Maryland Lottery’s Winner’s Lounge to celebrate his $22,135 win on a $1 bet.
The Baltimore man bet $1 on 10 races that the 11, 12, 2 and 1 horses would finish in that exact order to win the Superfecta bet, which the Lottery introduced as a betting option this spring. He placed his bet at the Soda Pop Shop in Baltimore and left, not knowing that his horses finished in perfect order.
Later, the man checked his ticket and was surprised by the win because he rarely plays Racetrax. He still isn’t sure why he played the game that day, other than his friends might have been enjoying wins so he decided to try his luck, too. The 77-year-old is a loyal player of the Lottery’s Pick 3 and Pick 4 games along with Mega Millions, Multi-Match and Bonus Match 5.
He plans to use his winnings to pay off some bills. The lucky man found his Racetrax winning ticket at the Soda Pop Shop at 4420 Pennington Avenue in Baltimore. For selling the ticket, the retailer will receive a $221 bonus from the Lottery.
