Gold Bar Bonus $1 Million Win
A nearly 85-year-old grandmother is $1 million richer today after claiming one of the top prizes on the Gold Bar Bonus scratch-off ticket. The peppy winner, who charmed Lottery staff with her effusive personality, was much more composed about her big win.
“Well, I wanted to make sure the ticket triple-checked first, before I believed it was a winner,” she said matter-of-factly. “Then I got excited about the win.” The retired Fair Lanes Bowling Center manager, who still plays on a league three times a week, said she purchased two of the Gold Bar Bonus scratch-offs this past Wednesday. She took them home to scratch and her $1 million top prize was revealed.
The mother of three, grandmother of four and great-grandmother of four shared the news first with her children. “One of my daughters thought the ticket was a phony and my son’s eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw the ticket,” she laughed. The spirited winner told Lottery officials that she plans to share her winnings with her beloved family and possibly visit an out-of-town friend in the near future.
The winning ticket was purchased at King Liquors located at 8226 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore.
