Wins Top Prize on Winter Riches Scratch-Off
Forty eight year-old James McKenzie went to his favorite riverboat casino this past Tuesday to bet on horses, but the horse races he was so looking forward to were not taking place that day. He reluctantly purchased scratch-off tickets, and in a strange twist of fate, walked off of the boat $50,000 richer.
“I bought a bunch of scratch-offs to bide my time there and was blessed with a winner,” said the lucky player. The Fredericksburg, Virginia resident said that he has been out on worker’s compensation and is struggling. “This win came at the right time.”
Out of all the scratch-offs he played that day, the very last one was the $50,000 Winter Riches top prize winner. “I repeatedly asked the clerk if I had won and she kept nodding yes!”
The generous player said that even during this rough time in his life, he still always does his best to help others in need. His sons were elated when they heard about his win and believes it was good karma coming back to him.
McKenzie said he is going to use the winnings towards bills and helping his boys and five-year-old grandson. He also plans to give the cashier a little something too for selling him the lucky ticket. “That’s what it is all about,” he said. “You are blessed when you give back.” The winning ticket was purchased at the Riverboat on the Potomac located at 301 Beach Terrace in Colonial Beach, Maryland.
