Nearly a year after winning $10,000, lucky lady finds Power 5s top prize
A Baltimore resident is celebrating Lottery scratch-off luck for the second summer in a row after claiming a $50,000 top prize on the Power 5s instant ticket.
The scratch-off enthusiast has held onto the winning ticket since she purchased it on July 28 at Sam’s Lobby Shop, located at 10 North Calvert Street in Baltimore.
“I’ve won $50 and $75 on this one a couple of times, so it’s been lucky for me,” said the winner, who is a bank employee.
The scratch-off she bought July 28 was lucky and then some. As she scratched the $5 instant ticket, she revealed one “5” symbol after another. Each symbol corresponded to a $5,000 prize. By the time she finished scratching off the game, there were 10 $5,000 prizes and she was a big winner for a second time. Late last summer, she took home a $10,000 prize on a Monopoly instant ticket.
The lucky lady kept the Power 5s ticket at home in a drawer until she visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize on Aug. 23. She’s kept the big win a secret from almost everyone, although she hinted to her mother that Lottery luck came her way.
The Baltimore City retailer is a winner as well. For selling the top-prize instant ticket in the game, Sam’s Lobby Shop will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
The Power 5s ticket launched in June, and five of its $50,000 top prizes remain unclaimed, along with 10 $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
