Small Successes Enticed Montgomery County Resident to Keep Playing
A Sandy Spring senior citizen rolled several successful small wins on the Maryland Lottery’s Super Slots scratch-off into a major $77,700 prize that she plans to funnel into financing future medical expenses.
The 78-year-old Montgomery County resident came to Lottery headquarters with her adult daughter to claim the $5 ticket’s top prize. The $77,700 win is her largest one to date, the happy player said, and shared her system for playing scratch-offs. She’ll select a new ticket and see if it is lucky by playing that ticket for about two weeks. The retiree moves to a different ticket if lucky doesn’t strike as often as she would prefer.
The mother of two adult children reports having lots of small wins with the Super Slots ticket. “She gravitated to that on Jan. 1,” her daughter said. “She played it constantly.”
Her system certainly worked! A set of new eyeglasses and eye exam are first on the list of upcoming medical expenses, the winner said. She found her lucky Super Slots ticket at Young Gourmet Beer & Wine at 3422 Olney Laytonsville Road in Olney.
