Taneytown Woman Wins Bonus Match 5 Prize with Special Numbers

Takes Home $50,000 Top-Tier Prize

After several months of using family member’s birthdays to play her Bonus Match 5 numbers, a 53-year-old Taneytown woman’s dream finally became a reality. She won a $50,000 top-tier Bonus Match 5 prize.

“I started getting Lottery tickets for my mom after my dad passed away,” she said. “Then I just started getting them for myself.  I figured if I played numbers that were special to me, maybe I’d win something.  I never thought that it would be this big.”

The lucky winner told Lottery officials that she believes her late dad had something to do with her win. “It’s like he’s rewarding us for taking care of mom.”

The winner, who use to work as a factory worker but is now disabled, certainly is no stranger to winning. She won a $10,000 prize playing a Hugs & Kisses scratch-off a few years ago. The winner, along with her husband, said they’d put most of their winnings toward paying off their bills. They also plan on having a little fun with the money. The winning ticket was purchased at the Liquor Barn on East Baltimore Street in Taneytown.
