Claims $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Prize
Reginald Ford was mighty disappointed last week. The Temple Hills man had picked out numbers for that night’s Bonus Match 5 drawing but he failed to buy the Maryland Lottery ticket. Wouldn’t you know it, enough of the numbers hit to deliver a $600 prize had he only played the numbers.
“I said to myself that I’d get it back the next time,” Reginald told Lottery officials as he sat in the Winner’s Lounge at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Get it back, he did – and then some!
The 60-year-old is the first $50,000 winner in one of the Lottery’s two Bonus Match 5 promotions underway through May 4. The Lottery is paying all state and federal taxes on $50,000 and $100,000 wins during the promotion. The second promotion, a prize doubler, is awarded randomly and prints on the top of the Bonus Match 5 ticket.
Reginald made sure to get his tickets on Friday, April 10, at Triangle Market in Capitol Heights. He got the shock of his life when he checked the results the next day. “The clerk told me that I’d matched all five of the numbers. I could not believe what I was hearing.”
The construction contractor immediately signed his Bonus Match 5 winner and, following the advice of his niece, went directly home to secure his lucky ticket. He’s been antsy these last few days, he told officials, but extremely grateful. “I’ve been sending out thanks ever since Saturday. I am really and truly blessed.”
Reginald plans to make his mother’s life easier with his winnings and then will share the prize with the rest of his family. See if his lottery luck will rub off on you by visiting Triangle Market at 1409 Ritchie Marlboro Road in Capitol Heights.
