Thanks, Pops! Retiree Wins $10,000 Scratch-off Prize

Baltimore County woman wins with $1,000,000 Fortune ticket

158-$1-Million-Fortune-ITVM_P1-AquaHow would you react in a store if you discovered the Maryland Lottery scratch-off in your hand was worth thousands of dollars? One very startled Baltimore County woman quickly stopped scratching her lucky $1,000,000 Fortune ticket before she knew just how many thousands were coming her way. Then, she quietly left the store.

“I was so happy, my heart started racing,” she said.

The retired state employee had bought four scratch-offs at Pop’s Grocery and Deli in Glen Burnie. She started scratching them in the store and then revealed several lucky matches on her $1,000,000 Fortune ticket. The scratch-off showed several numbers in the “Your Numbers” section matched those in the “Fortune Numbers” section! Our winner left and finished scratching the ticket off at home, where she could comfortably calculate the growing dollar amounts. The 62-year-old then safely stashed the ticket in her purse until she could claim her prize at Lottery headquarters.

The Parkton resident told her husband and a few immediate family members about her win but is keeping it a secret from others. She only buys scratch-offs once or twice a month so this truly was her lucky day!

The win came at a great time, she said, because she and her husband are happily celebrating their 8th year of marriage this month. They plan to take a vacation with the winnings and buy a badly needed clothes dryer, pay down some debt and have an even better Thanksgiving holiday than they originally planned.

There are still several prizes remaining on the $1,000,000 Fortune ticket, including two $1,000,000 top prizes, five $50,000 prizes and another 17 $10,000 prizes. Try your luck at the home of this lucky ticket: Pops Grocery and Deli at 7459 East Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie.
