Scratches $50,000 prize on Double Dollar Fortune ticket
While most people were out spending money on Black Friday, a lucky Georgia couple scratched their way to a big Maryland Lottery win. Charles and Dianne Walker were in town spending Thanksgiving with their daughter and grandkids when they purchased a Double Dollar Fortune scratch-off at the 7-11 on Solomon’s Island Road in Prince Frederick. Much to their surprise, the ticket was worth $50,000.
“With winnings from a few tickets we purchased earlier, we decided to buy a $20 ticket,” said 66-year-old Charles. “My wife is the lucky one in the family, so after I scratched the top four rows, I gave the ticket to her to finish. That’s when she turned to me and said ‘I think we won $50’. I looked at the ticket and saw that it was worth much more than that.”
The lucky pair, who has been married for over 47 years, said the win came as a complete surprise and mentioned that they had never won any prize this large.
“Now I can get the bathroom and kitchen remodeled,” Diane said. “Maybe we can also buy a new pair of golf shoes and clubs for my husband.” Along with many other prizes, Double Dollar Fortune has one $1 million and one $50,000 prize remaining.
