Construction Worker Wins $50,000 with The Price is Right scratch-off
A Silver Spring man can finally surprise his daughters with a dream trip to Disney World, thanks to a Maryland Lottery scratch-off. The construction worker and frequent Lottery player scratched his way to a $50,000 The Price is Right scratch-off top prize.
“I don’t even plan on telling my daughters about the trip,” said the 47-year-old. “ I’m just going to surprise them.”
In addition to bringing the dream vacation to fruition, the father-of-two can also take his daughters to visit his mother back home in El Salvador. He has lived in the United States for 25 years, and was unable to visit his family in El Salvador for the first 18 years. During his upcoming two week visit, he will be bearing a very special gift — a brand new roof for his mother’s house.
“I knew I won something when scratching the ticket, but I didn’t know how much,” the winner told Lottery officials. “I was so nervous that I couldn’t even sleep that night.”
When asked about other plans for his winnings, he says that he’ll be paying off credit cards and taking care of his mother back home. The winning ticket was purchased at Wheaton Winery, located at 2211-B University Boulevard in Silver Spring. The Price is Right scratch off ticket still has two $50,000 top-prizes remaining. Non-winning tickets can be entered into a second-chance contest. For more information, visit mdlottery.com/priceisright.
