The Week in Winners: Big Prizes in Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Germantown, Joppa, Ocean City Highlight the Week

Players across Maryland won or claimed $27.9 million during the week ending Oct. 4

A Powerball ticket worth $100,000 purchased in Gaithersburg and a scratch-off also worth $100,000 sold in Silver Spring topped this week’s list of the Maryland Lottery’s biggest wins.

Three scratch-off prizes of $50,000 each were delivered on tickets sold in Germantown, Joppa and Ocean City.

In all, Lottery players won or claimed more than $27.9 million in the seven days ending Oct. 4, including 35 tickets worth $10,000 or more that were either sold or claimed during that span.

The Maryland Lottery Claims Center in Baltimore is open by appointment only. Lottery prizes up to and including $25,000 can be claimed at five of Maryland’s six casinos with no appointment necessary. The Maryland Lottery encourages players to check their tickets by scanning them at any Lottery retailer or with the Lottery’s mobile apps. Draw game winners have 182 days from the date of a drawing to claim their prizes, and scratch-off winners have 182 days from the announced end-of-game date, though there is a grace period for tickets that expire during the COVID-19 state of emergency.
