Third Big Keno Win Gives Wheaton Man Déjà Vu

His Keno winning streak continues! George Baker Jr. of Wheaton won a third five-figure prize of $10,002!

Claims $10,002 prize on 7-spot wager

Scanning a Feb. 23 Keno ticket gave avid Maryland Lottery player George Baker Jr. a case of Lottery déjà vu. The Wheaton resident won $10,000 for a third time, taking home a $10,002 Keno prize!

George plays Keno regularly at his favorite retailer, Legends Billiards & Café located at 11317 Elkin Street in Silver Spring. He also plays jackpot games at other locations and maintains a Mega Millions subscription.

The lucky 69-year-old didn’t check results of his 7-spot Keno wager until the next day when he stopped at a Giant grocery. His quick-pick ticket carried the numbers 16, 50, 52, 56, 58, 60 and 79. After using the store ticket checker to scan his ticket, George realized he had won big again. He scanned the ticket two more times to be sure the $10,002 prize was real.

“I was shocked and surprised,” the lucky winner said, “that’s why I checked a third time to be sure.” He called his wife of 40 years and said, “We’re going to dinner,” before explaining to his surprised spouse the 10,002 reasons for their celebration.

A retired government employee, George said he plans to put his prize into savings and share some of the windfall with his wife and daughter. Legends Billiards & Café will also share the winning action. The Montgomery County retailer earns a $100 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more.
