Claims $50,000 prize on 88 Fortunes scratch-off
Persistence certainly paid off for Jay Henderson of Baltimore, who bought two scratch-offs that failed to produce a big prize and decided to try his luck for a third time. Now, the 18-year-old is celebrating a $50,000 win on an 88 Fortunes scratch-off.
Jay found his top-prize win at Quick Mart located at 300 Trappe Road in Dundalk. He and his mom stopped in and purchased a scratch-off. After the first instant ticket was not a winner, Jay purchased another. The second scratch-off revealed a $3 prize. Jay then convinced his mom to add $2 to his $3 prize so he could buy a $5 88 Fortunes game. That last randomly chosen ticket was the big winner.
“I just had a feeling about it,” Jay said when asked why he remained so persistent. “I stayed humble and quiet, my mother was the one that kept freaking out and shouting.” Lucky Jay kept his instant ticket safe in his dresser until he could claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The happy winner has only shared news of his win with members of his household. When asked of his plans for his prize, Jay said, “This is a very helpful win, I’ll take it slow, maybe buy something cool, and save the rest.”
There are still three $50,000 top prizes remaining on the 88 Fortunes scratch-off, as well as six $5,000 prizes. Quick Mart will also share in the fun by receiving a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling Jay’s $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
