Wins $50,000 playing Family Feud game
A Delaware woman is starting her birthday celebration a month early after winning $50,000 playing the Family Feud scratch-off game.
Paula Sierra was visiting her brother in Silver Spring when she and a friend stopped at his local 7-Eleven to pick up a few snacks. The occasional Lottery player decided to get a scratch-off and picked the $5 Family Feud instant ticket because it’s a newer game.
“I hadn’t played this one before,” said a very happy Paula.
The big winner then went to dinner with her friend and scratched the game off there. The Nixon Uniform Service employee told Lottery officials she was shocked when she saw the $50,000 prize appear on her instant ticket.
“I kept looking and looking at it,” she said. “I couldn’t believe that I won this!”
Paula later shared her good news with her two adult children and locked the ticket in a safe deposit box. Because of her work schedule, she had to wait a week to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Every so often, she checked the safe deposit box to make sure the ticket was still there.
The happy winner shared that her birthday is July 4 and exclaimed that her celebration is starting now! She plans to spend some of her prize on a vacation, Paula said.
The 7-Eleven #23666 is a winner, too. The Montgomery County store located at 9254 New Hampshire Avenue will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
This is the third $50,000 top prize claimed in the Family Feud game, which also has an exciting second-chance contest. The game has seven more top prizes along with 11 $5,000 prizes and thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000. Players can enter non-winning Family Feud instant tickets into their My Lottery Rewards account for the chance to win cash prizes of $50,000 and $500. The second of three entry deadlines is July 17; for promotion details, visit here.
