Talbot County woman overjoyed top prize scratch-off win
Easton resident Chakiera Williams’ love of scratch-offs finally paid off with a big win last Tuesday. Her daily ritual of going to her favorite gas station to buy a scratch-off had her running up and down the street with joy. Williams’ win on the Bonus Bucks scratch-off netted her $10,000.
Williams, a part-time student, had actually purchased a one dollar ticket before selecting her winning scratch-off. The first ticket had a two dollar prize which she used to buy her winning scratch-off. It was the first time she had seen the two dollar Bonus Bucks ticket, so she gave it a try and had wonderful results.
When she began to scratch, she knew she had won $1,000, but was completely shocked to see every number on her ticket was a winner. “I was so excited,” she told Lottery officials. “I literally ran out of the store and went running up and down the street.”
The day care provider plans to use the money to pay off bills and treat her three young children to a wonderful Christmas. She purchased her winning ticket from the Easton Shell at 110 South Washington Street in Easton.
