A Montgomery County man just put Rockville on the Lottery winners map after claiming a $13,971 prize on a Racetrax Trifecta bet.
The 65-year-old picked horses 8, 9 and 12 to finish in that exact order and paid $5 for his ticket — $1 each for five races on Aug. 4. On the last of the five races, his 8-9-12 Trifecta hit.
The lucky winner bought his ticket at Long Branch Beer & Wine located at 649 University Boulevard East in Silver Spring. The retailer is a winner as well. For selling a winning Racetraxticket worth at least $10,000, the store earns a $139.71 bonus from the Lottery — equal to 1 percent of the prize value.
