Caroline County woman wins with 100x the Cash game
A 49-year-old woman is still reeling with shock after winning a $1 million top prize on a 100x the Cash scratch-off.
The lucky homemaker found her good fortune when she stopped at the Greensboro Quick Shop in Caroline County to buy gas for her vehicle. While there, she purchased a 100x the Cash scratch-off.
“I was anxious to scratch my new ticket so I decided to do it as I was filling up,” she said. “As I was scratching, I thought I didn’t win anything until I almost reached the last line. I then noticed that my lucky number matched the winning $1 million number. I was simply floored!”
The happy homemaker immediately called her husband of 19 years to tell him the good news.
“When I got the call from my wife telling me she had won the Lottery, I thought she was joking at first,” said the winner’s husband. “She took a picture of the winning ticket and texted it to me. The next thing I know, we were headed here to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize money.”
The excited winner said that she usually likes to play scratch-offs that are relatively new to the market. For some reason, on the day she found Lottery luck, the loyal player selected a $20 scratch-off that arrived at Lottery retailers in November 2016.
The lucky pair said that besides paying bills and going out to dinner to celebrate, they may book a vacation with some of their winnings.
The 100x the Cash instant ticket is part of the original Multiplier family of games that made its debut in 2016. The game still has two $1 million top prizes along with three $50,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $20 to $10,000.
The lucky Lottery retailer also has reason to celebrate. For selling the $1 million top-prize scratch-off in the 100x the Cash game, the Greensboro Quick Shop located at 13760 Greensboro Road in Greensboro earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
