Trip to the Dentist Pays Off for Largo Woman

Wins $50,000 playing Maryland Lottery’s Big Cash Multiplier scratch-off

Big Cash MultiplierA Prince George’s County woman had a great day earlier this week, both despite and on account of a visit to the dentist. The drive home put her in the right place at the right time to rendezvous with lottery luck. The result: a $50,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off win!

An errand sparked the need to enter the 7-Eleven at 798 Harry S Truman Drive in Upper Marlboro. Fate took over from there!

“I needed some cash later in the day so I stopped at the first ATM I saw,” said the 73-year-old retired restaurant employee. Something inspired her to buy a few scratch-off tickets, including the $5 Big Cash Multiplier, while she was in the store.

“I scratched them in the car – something my husband doesn’t like. He says it makes too much of a mess,” the senior said. “When I saw the $50,000, I couldn’t believe it! ‘This can’t be,’ I said to myself.”

The Largo resident made such a racket when she arrived home that her husband of 49 years was concerned. Our winner told her story and the couple celebrated. “I was too excited to sleep,” she said. “My husband slept like a baby.”

Paying bills and adding to savings accounts are among the couple’s plan for the winnings. They’ll also share their prize with their grown son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Big Cash Multiplier still has one $50,000 top-prize winning ticket in stores. For selling her ticket, the 7-Eleven will receive a bonus of $500 from the Maryland Lottery.
