Trucker Drives Home a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Prize

Wheels away with a win in Oct. 23 drawing

A 60-year-old truck driver from Severna Park raced to Lottery headquarters after learning that he had just won a top $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize. The revved-up player won his good fortune after buying several tickets for the Oct. 23 drawing.

The Anne Arundel County resident, who is a loyal Bonus Match 5 player, won $50,000 playing the game in 2003.

“Ever since I won the first time, I always try to get my Bonus Match 5 games in for the week,” he said. “I always seem to win something whenever I play.”

His wife of more than two decades agrees that her husband has amazing luck playing Lottery games. “He always seems to be bringing home a few hundred dollars here and there, whenever he plays.”

The winner decided to check his tickets from the drawing after hearing an employee from EZ Quick Food Market in Pasadena say the store had just sold a $50,000 winning Bonus Match 5 ticket. The store is his favorite Lottery retailer and he regularly buys his tickets there.

“When I got home, I checked all of my tickets for that week to see if I had won,” he said. “I was really very shocked when the Lottery’s phone app that I use quite frequently confirmed that one of my Bonus Match 5 tickets was indeed a big winner.” His phone app also directed him to trek straight to Lottery headquarters to claim his top prize.

The happy husband said that he certainly feels blessed that’s he’s won as often as he has. The winner plans to put most of the prize in the bank after celebrating with friends and family. His winning numbers on the quick-pick ticket were 7, 14, 21, 22 and 30.

Also sharing in his win is lucky Lottery retailer EZ Quick Food Market. The Anne Arundel County store located at 231 Mountain Road in Pasadena earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket in the daily game.
