Nottingham Man Takes Home $100,000 5 Card Cash Prize
Shock couldn’t even describe what a 34-year-old Maryland state employee was feeling today as he claimed a $100,000 5 Card Cash prize. He floated on air as he entered Lottery headquarters this afternoon basking in the glow of this recent win. “This feels like a dream,” said the recently married man.
This baseball fan was only playing 5 Card Cash so that he could enter his non-winning tickets into the “Hit it Big” second-chance contest. Actually winning a cash prize on the game itself was the last thing on his mind. “Are you kidding, me,” he exclaimed. “This is crazy.”

The father-of-four purchased the ticket yesterday and put it in his pocket not thinking to check it until today while at work. He went on the computer and saw that his ticket matched last night’s drawing, suit and rank. The winner said he immediately called his wife to share the news. But, she thought that since the cards were not in the same order, that it was not a winner. “Boy is she going to be surprised,” he smiled. Still, to make sure, he told his boss he was leaving for the day and checked the ticket two more times at a Lottery retailer. Confirmed for the third time, the winner headed to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize.
We can get that house now,” he said when asked what his plans were for the winnings. But, he was still too excited to say what else he might do. “Tell my wife it’s been confirmed,” he said. “She’s been sitting on pins and needles since I told her.” The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-11 store located at 9617 Belair Road in Nottingham.
This is the second 5 Card Cash $100,000 top-prize win since the game began in November 2012.
Players can enter non-winning 5 Card Cash tickets, with the Orioles logo on the top of the ticket, at mdlottery.com/orioles. The contest offers players the chance to win cash and prizes.
