Two $50,000-Winning Powerball Tickets Sold in Maryland

Jackpot hit in New Jersey in Saturday, Jan. 23 drawing

Powerball keeps bringing wins to Maryland players! Two tickets from the Saturday, Jan. 23 drawing won $50,000 and another 22,828 tickets won prizes of $4 to $100. A New Jersey convenience store sold a $23 million winning jackpot ticket in the drawing, which was the first since Maryland’s Jan. 20 $731.1 million jackpot win in Allegany County. No one has stepped forward yet to claim either the Maryland or New Jersey jackpots.

The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky players who bought the two $50,000 winning tickets in Maryland. Check your numbers if you bought tickets at Hoopers Island General Store, 2806 Hoopers Island Road in Church Creek (Dorchester County) or Mitts Rosedale Liquors (formerly Kenwood Liquors), 6247 Kenwood Avenue in Rosedale (Baltimore County). The winning numbers were 5, 8, 17, 27 and 28; the Powerball was 14 and the Power Play multiplier was 3. Maryland has had 11 third-tier $50,000 Powerball winners so far in 2021.

Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the backs of their tickets immediately and put them in safe locations. Winners typically get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency.

The $50,000 winners can claim their prizes by mail or in person by appointment at the Lottery headquarters’ Customer Resource Center located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. Winners of smaller prizes can claim them by mail, at Lottery retailers, at casinos or by appointment at Lottery headquarters.
