Prince George’s County woman brings home $100,002 Bonus Match 5 prize
A Forestville woman can thank family birthdays, including her own, for a $100,000 doubled Bonus Match 5 prize that came her way this month. The 41-year-old played the lucky numbers on two lines, giving her a $50,000 win – twice – in the June 3 drawing.
The Prince George’s County resident stopped at R&J Liquors in Dunkirk on her way home from work and decided to play Bonus Match 5. “I don’t play that often, but when I do, I like these numbers,” she said. She played 6, 9, 11, 13 and 23 twice plus seven lines of quick-pick numbers on her $6 ticket. The lucky lady went home and didn’t think about the ticket until later.
“I checked the numbers on my tablet,” she said. “When I saw my numbers matched, I just couldn’t believe it.”
The federal government employee decided not to share the good news right away. Instead, she hid her winning ticket and waited to take care of some personal business before claiming the prize this week.
“Honestly, it didn’t sink in that I won until I came to the Claim Center,” she said, smiling. “Now that I know it’s real, I can tell my husband.”
The mother of one adult daughter shared that she will use some of the money for a graduation gift for her daughter. She plans to put the rest of the prize toward bills and home improvements.
The retailer that sold the winning ticket, R&J Liquors, is also a winner. The Calvert County store located at 2797 W. Chesapeake Beach Road in Dunkirk will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning $100,002 ticket.
