Both Win $50,000 Crossword Multiplier Prize
Call it coincidence but two Lottery winners who bought the same scratch-off ticket, made their way to Lottery headquarters at the same moment to claim their prize. The winners, one from Pasadena and the other from Baltimore, each won a top-tier $50,000 prize playing the Crossword Multiplier scratch-off ticket.
The Pasadena winner told Lottery officials that he purchased the scratch-off for his wife, who has been under the weather. “She usually buys my tickets, I like to play Powerball, Multi-Match, and Mega Millions,” said the winner. “This time, I got hers. She loves all the crossword scratch-offs.” His spouse scratched the ticket and discovered the win. “She came downstairs with her mouth opened and looking shocked, I thought something was wrong. We just couldn’t believe we won.” The lucky winner intends to use his winnings to surprise his daughter and family with a down payment on a home and will also take a cruise. The winning ticket was purchased at the Fort Smallwood Citgo, located at Fort Smallwood Rd. in Pasadena.
The other lucky winner to arrive at Lottery Headquarters was Sterling Grant from Baltimore. Sterling purchased five Crossword Multiplier scratch-off tickets with $60 he won on a different ticket. “The first Crossword Multiplier ticket I scratched, I realized I had won,” said the 45-year-old. “I told one of my co-workers and then I called my mom to come get the ticket and put it in a safe place,” he said. With his $50,000 windfall, Sterling intends to help his family and pay bills. Sterling’s ticket was purchased at Team Spirits on Cranbrook Rd. in Cockeysville.
