Latest $31,961 win is 8th big prize claimed at Lottery headquarters in two months
The Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax players are on a two-month Superfecta winning streak, claiming eight major prizes since Sept. 1 from Superfecta, Superfecta Box and Superfecta Wheel bets! A 59-year-old Reisterstown man just claimed a $31,961 prize on a regular Superfecta wager.
The Baltimore County man selected a lucky combination of horses to play just last week while visiting the Cash Box Lottery retailer in Baltimore. He wagered $1 a race for 20 races on the 5, 6, 7 and 9 horses to win in that exact order. On his 17th race, the four horses did just that. The odds of winning with that combination are nearly 1 in 48,000.
Players like the Superfecta wager because it has the potential for large payouts for a $1 wager. Prizes start at $324 for the 1, 2, 3, 4 combination ranging to just over $650,000 for the 12, 11, 10, 9 combination. The Superfecta wager, along with its Box and Wheel options, joined the Racetrax bet types in April 2014. The largest Superfecta win with the Racetrax game in the last two months was an $82,702 prize claimed by a Fort Washington woman in September.
The Reisterstown man’s win also benefits the retailer. The Cash Box, located at 4127 Patterson Avenue in Baltimore, will receive a $319 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket over $10,000.
