Howard, Montgomery county retailers sell lucky tickets
The Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax thoroughbreds sent two Maryland women to the winner’s circle recently to claim five-figure prizes.
A Silver Spring woman won $63,836.40 on a Superfecta Box bet with the Bonus multiplier feature. She placed her wager at Colesville Beer & Wine in Silver Spring, betting correctly that the 3, 10, 11 and 12 horses would cross the finish line together. Because she added the Bonus feature to her ticket, the loyal player saw her prize triple when the Bonus drawn for her race was 3. The 48-year-old only bought one ticket for one drawing for her big win.
A Baltimore woman won $37,898.40, also on a quick-pick Superfecta Box bet she placed at Normandy Sunoco in Ellicott City. Because she bought a 10-draw ticket, the 45-year-old bet saved $4 on her purchase due to an ongoing Racetrax promotion. Through Oct. 11, any $6 Racetrax purchase will receive a $1 discount. The maximum discount is $5 on a purchase of $30 or more.
This lucky city resident bet that the 8, 9, 11 and 12 horses would cross the finish line together — and they did!
Both lucky retailers earn bonuses from the Lottery for their roles in the winners’ prizes.
