17 states have second-tier winners
Congratulations to our new $1 million Powerball winners! The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky players who bought winning second-tier tickets worth $1 million each at Garrett County and Prince George’s County retailers for the Wednesday, Feb. 11 drawing. Thirty-four players across the country including Maryland and 16 other states matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing to capture the $1 million second-tier prize.
The Powerball jackpot, which reached $564.1 million, was hit by lucky players in North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Texas. This third largest jackpot in Powerball history carried a cash option of $381.1 million.
If you bought your ticket at one of the two Maryland retailers, you could be our new millionaire! The lucky Maryland tickets sold at the Garrett County and Prince George’s County retailers missed only the Power Ball number. Check your ticket to see if it carries the winning numbers of 11, 13, 25, 39 and 54. The Power Ball was 19.
The happy retailers are Winner’s Circle Convenience at 401 Dave Turney Street in Oakland and Giant #310 at 15520 Annapolis Road in Bowie. For selling the second-tier winning ticket, the retailers each receive a $2,500 bonus. The winners have 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.
Nationally, more than 5,971,080 Powerball tickets were winners. Maryland saw more than 149,732 players win prizes ranging from the $1 million second-tier win down to $4. The 8,411 Marylanders who paid the extra $1 to add Power Play to the $2 ticket saw the prize increase threefold.
Maryland has now enjoyed five second-tier Powerball wins in 2015.
