‘Lucky Retriever’ claims taxes-paid prize on Payday Doubler game
He’s certainly one “Lucky Retriever!”
An alumnus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County basketball program was still celebrating his alma mater’s shocking upset of Virginia in the March Madness tournament when a second magic moment came his way. The Timonium resident intercepted a $50,000 winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off pass by Lady Luck. His winning Payday Doubler scratch-off fetched him a taxes-paid top prize!
“I just could not believe it,” said the Baltimore County man, who dubbed himself “Lucky Retriever” for his big Lottery win. “I was at the Royal Farms store to buy a cup of coffee. On the way out, I bought a $5 Payday Doubler ticket and won!”
The Payday Doubler is a taxes-paid instant ticket, which means “Lucky Retriever” collects the game’s full prize of $50,000. “I guess I was in the right place at the right time to purchase this ticket,” said the 60-year-old.
The happy dad plans to use some of his windfall to pay for his daughter’s wedding in June and for other bills. The lucky Lottery retailer also has reason to celebrate. Royal Farms #12 located at 5 East Timonium Road in Baltimore County earned a $500 retailer bonus for selling the $50,000 top-prize scratch-off.
