The Money Game scratch-off brings big payday
A Union Bridge man who enjoys playing Maryland Lottery games is particularly fond of buying scratch-offs this time of the year.
“He is hopeful that blessings will come with the holidays,” said his daughter, who helped the lucky player claim a $100,000 top prize on the scratch-off called The Money Game. As it turns out, this was a great time of year for the 55-year-old man to play instant tickets. In addition to his $100,000 score, he also won a few thousand dollars a few weeks back on a scratch-off.
Winning the $100,000 big prize, however, was an experience that took time to comprehend. The player told his daughter he had to walk back into his lucky Lottery retailer, Barnes Country Store in Frederick, two or three times to check the scratch-off before becoming convinced of his good fortune. When the win became clear, “he just felt happy and didn’t know what to do,” the daughter said.
As for spending his big prize, the winner lives with his daughter and grandchildren and expects to give a substantial sum to them. He also plans to visit his hometown to see his sister.
Sharing in the man’s good luck is Barnes Country Store at 9711 Liberty Road in Frederick. For selling a $100,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the Frederick County store receives a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery.
This win leaves four of the original nine top prizes in The Money Game unclaimed along with 18 $10,000 prizes. The $10 game that went on sale in August is moving up on the Maryland Lottery Top 40 Scratch-Offs chart. The scratch-off has reached the number 12 spot, rising from its position last week at number 14.
