Upper Marlboro Man Triples His Mega Millions Win with the Megaplier

$10,000 third-tier prize turns into $30,000

The Maryland Lottery player who arrived at Lottery Headquarters this morning could be considered a winner on two fronts—first lucky in love with his recent engagement and on Friday, when he matched four numbers from that evening’s drawing, plus the Mega Ball, to win the third-tier Mega Millions prize.

The happy man, who is an avid Lottery fan, had relatives coming into town but found time for his usual Lottery play. He purchased a Quick Pick ticket with the Megaplier. The next day he went to the store and checked his ticket on the Lottery scanner, which immediately instructed him to go to Lottery Headquarters. It was then that he realized he was $30,000 richer. “I play this game a lot,” said the winner. “But when I discovered I’d won $30,000, I was shocked.”

With aspirations of taking home the jackpot one day, the man has every intention of continuing his Lottery play, saying, “I’m actually going to play again today.” He intends to use his windfall to pay off bills and plan for his wedding.

The winning ticket was purchased at Central Exxon, located at 6400 Central Ave. in Capitol Heights.
