Dundalk woman claims $20,000 Ravens scratch-off prize
She always enjoys seeing her nephew, a Dundalk resident told Maryland Lottery officials, but his Valentine’s Day visit is one she will never forget. The gift he gave to her – a Ravens scratch-off good for $20,000 – will enable her to share his generosity with their entire family.
“I get Lottery tickets every now and then,” the 60-something woman said. “I enjoy playing them, especially when I win something.”
When her nephew stopped by her home to wish her a happy Valentine’s Day, the retired Baltimore City employee was delighted to see her gift of the Ravens game. “We’re both Ravens fans so I didn’t have to ask how he’d chosen the game,” she said. “It was such a nice thing for him to do.” Setting her gift aside, our winner spent the next several hours visiting with her nephew and other family members who dropped by.
It wasn’t until evening that she got around to scratching her ticket. “I couldn’t believe my eyes, every number was a match. When I saw the dollar amounts underneath, well, I almost fainted,” she said. The happy winner called everyone she knew with the news, starting with her nephew.
“ ‘I gave you WHAT!’ he said when I told him,” the lucky player said. “He was very happy for me.”
She plans to share her Valentine’s Day prize with her family. “We’re all very close and look out for each other,” she said. That Ravens ticket her nephew purchased from Bacchus Bar at 1220 West North Avenue in Baltimore is going to make many people happy.
The lucky city retailer also wins. For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, Bacchus Bar will receive a $200 bonus from the Lottery.
The $2 Ravens game still has one more $20,000 top prize remaining and thousands of others ranging from $2 to $5,000.
