Virginia Man Exits Store Quickly After $50,000 Scratch-off Win

This Alexandria, Va. player found Lottery luck across state lines.

Claims $50,000 prize on Monopoly scratch-off

Joseph Cunningham was shocked and wary. The Alexandria, Va. man was standing in clear sight of other customers in the Baltimore store when he scratched off his Maryland Lottery Monopoly game. He scored his biggest Lottery payday ever — a $50,000 prize!

“I couldn’t believe it,” Joseph said. “I kept quiet so that I wouldn’t let everyone know.”

The 61-year-old winner bought his lucky scratch-off at Harris Teeter #392 located at 3779 Boston Street in Baltimore, which is where he regularly buys Lottery games. Joseph selected the $20 Monopoly game because the retailer was out of the scratch-offs he normally buys.

The retired telecommunications worker plans to spend his winnings on a vacation and pay off bills.

There are still two $1 million top prizes remaining in the $20 Monopoly scratch-off, which launched in September 2018. The game also has two unclaimed $50,000 prizes and six $10,000 prizes awaiting discovery.
