Both winners claim $15,616.50 prize on Trifecta Box bet on high-odds horses
A Virginia man who plays the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game claimed a $15,616.50 prize Aug. 5 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He won July 30 on a Trifecta Box bet on the high-odds horses 10, 11 and 12.
The Annandale resident wagered 50 cents for each combination on 20 races, including one when the winning horses finished 12, 10, 11 and 1. He was one of two people to play the high-odds horses on that race using a 50-cent Trifecta Box bet, and both won exactly the same prize, $15,616.50.
The 35-year-old player owns a transit business, which brings him to Maryland six days a week. Typically, he plays Racetrax during his workday to liven things up. He usually plays the high-odds horses and prefers Racetrax to other Lottery games because of the variety of betting options.
His lucky retailer, Liquor City, is also a winner. The Prince George’s County store at 9115 Annapolis Road in Lanham earns a $156.16 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket worth $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
