Visitor with Baltimore Roots Packs Up $50,000 Lottery Prize

Discovers top-prize win on Stacks of Ca$h scratch-off

A Pennsylvania scratch-off fan visiting family and friends in Baltimore is going home $50,000 richer! Her investment in the $5 Maryland Lottery Stacks of Ca$h scratch-off paid a $50,000 top-prize dividend.

The 56-year-old woman from Red Lion, Pa., claimed the first top prize in this popular game, which went on sale March 25 and climbed to the no. 3 spot on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-Offs chart. Six more $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed, along with 12 $5,000 prizes.

Although she knew about her Lottery luck on April 23, the machine operator waited until this week to claim her prize. The nervous winner admits that she checked on her ticket at least once a day! Most of the prize, she said, will go into sensible investments. “I’m just not going to blow it.” The winner is planning a cookout to celebrate her luck and will have “crabs and shrimp and beer and wine!”

For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, the Lottery retailer earns a bonus of $500. The city retailer is Clifton Park Services Inc., trading as Exxon, located at 6000 Moravia Road in Baltimore. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
