Walkersville Woman Keeps News of Big Win on Ice

Wins $50,000 top prize on The Price is Right scratch-off

Price Is RightAn excited Walkersville woman ‘came on down’ to Lottery headquarters on Monday morning to claim a $50,000 The Price is Right top prize. The woman, who purchased the ticket last Friday, agonized over where to store the ticket in her home this past weekend. After contemplating storage spots in her kitchen, the mother-of-three adult children told Lottery officials that the answer was obvious: the freezer.

The non-profit organization employee explained her reasoning to Lottery officials. “The ticket would be protected in a fire, it wouldn’t blow away and no one I know would root around in my freezer,” she said. “I signed it, put it in a bag, and put it on ice!”

The lucky winner said that she has been enjoying all of the speculation about who won the big scratch-off in her small town. She explained, “I was in another store across town and heard two people discussing a $50,000 The Price is Right scratch-off win at Village Way Liquors. I giggled to myself and left – they had no idea they were talking about me.”

She plans to put most of her winnings in the bank for future expenses and use some of her prize to spoil her grandchildren. The winning ticket was purchased at Village Way Liquors, located at 129 Walkers Village Way in Walkersville.

The Price is Right scratch-off still has four $50,000 top-prizes remaining. Non-winning tickets can be entered into a second-chance contest. For more information, visit mdlottery.com/priceisright.
