Find luck playing Holiday Cash Times 10 game
A Washington County man’s quick stop to get a cup of coffee put him in the right place at the right time to purchase the right Maryland Lottery scratch-off – a $50,000 winner!
The 49-year-old had stopped at Clarksburg Liberty for his cup of java when he noticed only one Holiday Cash Times 10 scratch-off remained in the dispenser. “It was the last ticket left so I figured, why not,” he said.
Later that day, the Rohrersville native gave the festive $5 instant ticket to his wife of 10 years. As she started scratching off the ticket, the lucky woman saw the $50,000 top prize start to emerge and simply could not believe her eyes. “I kept saying to myself that this can’t be right,” she said.
The pair owns a large farm and the win comes at a great time. “We have had such a time last year,” said the farmer’s wife. “First, our beloved dog died around Christmas and then our daughter got really sick this past New Year’s Eve. We’re hoping that this win means that there are good things coming our way in 2017.”
They plan to use some of their winnings toward a new Jeep and will save the rest for a rainy day. “Winning this money definitely makes things a little easier for us,” he said. “I’m starting to feel like our luck is beginning to change.”
The Holiday Cash Times 10 game still has plenty of prizes remaining, including one more $50,000 top prize, two $5,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $1,000. The lucky Clarksburg retailer that sold the top-prize scratch-off in the game is also a winner. The Lottery will give Clarksburg Liberty located at 23300 Clarksburg Road a $500 bonus for selling the winning scratch-off.
