Powerball, Bonus Match 5 players buy lucky tickets
Maryland enjoyed a truly winning holiday weekend – and not just because of the incredible spring weather. Saturday night was a delight for three Maryland Powerball players and a Bonus Match 5 player, thanks to their luck in the Feb. 18 drawings.
The Maryland Lottery urges players in these games to check their tickets closely. Even though no one in Maryland hit the Powerball jackpot Saturday night, we had a $1 million winner who bought a ticket at High’s #91, located at 10 Liberty Road in Sykesville.
There also were two $50,000 Powerball winners in Saturday’s drawing. Those tickets were purchased at Chadwick Liquors at 7005 Security Blvd. in Windsor Mill, and Mall Spirits, located at Reisterstown Road Plaza, 6630 Reisterstown Road in Baltimore.
Powerball has nine different prize tiers ranging from $4 to the jackpot, and Maryland had 40,588 Powerball winners statewide in Saturday night’s drawing. The winning Powerball numbers were 3, 7, 9, 31 and 33. The Power Ball was 20 and the Power Play multiplier was 3. The $1 million winner in Maryland was one of nine players across the country who matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing. Three of those players added the Power Play option to their tickets, which doubled their prizes to $2 million.
The Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated $403 million annuity for the Wednesday, Feb. 22 drawing with a cash option of $243.9 million.
Meanwhile, Cut Rate Liquors, located at 4039 North Point Blvd. in Dundalk, sold a $50,000 top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket. The winning numbers in Saturday’s drawing were 11, 13, 16, 20 and 31; the Bonus Ball was 37.
Lottery officials encourage these winners to sign the back of their lucky tickets immediately. They have 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.
Two of the four retailers will receive a bonus from the Lottery for selling the tickets. High’s earns a $2,500 bonus for selling a $1 million Powerball ticket and Cut Rate Liquors receives a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket.
