Weekend Hobby Turns Into Big Pile of Green

Hyattsville resident wins $50,000 prize on Green Doubler scratch-off

263-Green-Doubler-ITVMBuying scratch-off tickets is an every-weekend occasion for one lucky Hyattsville woman. One recent weekend, she went to her favorite Lottery retailer, Dennis Express in Takoma Park, and grabbed the first ticket she saw – a $5 Green Doubler game that delivered a $50,000 prize.

“I was very surprised to see that I’d won,” the lucky lady said. Although the 38-year-old had previously won small amounts on scratch-offs, this marked her first major Lottery win. So far, she has only shared the great news with a select few, but she said she might tell a few others soon.

The Prince George’s County resident, who is employed as a hotel housekeeper, said she doesn’t have any special plans for her prize money.

Dennis Express is a winner as well. The retailer, located at 6315 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize-winning ticket. Green Doubler launched in May, and two of its $50,000 top prizes are still unclaimed, along with three $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
