‘Weird Feeling’ Leads to $10,000 Lottery Prize

Harford County resident claims top prize on 10x Cash scratch-off

She relies on something much more basic – intuition, which translates into a “weird feeling” that it’s time to play.

The 55-year-old Abingdon resident and her husband were shopping in the Mars Super Market #17 at 1401 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood when one of those “weird feelings” came over her. While her husband bought his weekly Powerball and Mega Millions tickets, she wandered over to the Lottery’s instant ticket vending machine and was drawn to a 10x Cash ticket.

“I just said, ‘I have to buy that ticket,’ ” she recalled. “I had never seen it before. It’s the first time I ever bought 10x Cash. Maybe I was drawn to it because of the bright colors.”

Whatever the reason, the Harford County resident picked the right $10 ticket at the right time. She scratched it and quickly realized she had won one of the $10,000 top prizes.

“Usually, when I get that feeling to buy a ticket, I win a little bit – maybe $5 or $10, maybe the price of the ticket, but never anything like this,” she said, recalling that the largest amount she had won previously was a $2,500 prize on a New Jersey scratch-off bought years ago.

The lucky player and her husband plan to use their prize to pay off bills and try to move toward living debt free.

“We’re blessed and thrilled,” she said.

If you have any “weird feelings” about winning a 10x Cash prize, you’re in luck. There are still plenty of prizes waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. The game, which launched in March, still has more than 50 $10,000 top-prize tickets that have not yet been claimed.
