Jeffrey Frazier of Bel Air was all smiles after claiming a $100,000 top-prize on the Super Crossword scratch-off game.
Super Crossword game delivers big prize for Bel Air resident
Jeffery Frazier, a 53-year-old merchandising distributor for Weis Market, recently stopped at one of his company’s stores in Bel Air for a gallon of milk and a few other food items. With $10 that he had left over, he bought a Super Crossword scratch-off ticket that turned his routine grocery run into a special occasion.
“As I was scratching the ticket in my car, I quickly realized that I had won something big,” he said. “Once I realized it was a top $100,000 prize, I just became so overwhelmed with emotion that I just started screaming out loud. I know the other customers in the Weis parking lot thought I was going crazy because it was a rather loud scream.”
Aside from winning $500 on a scratch-off ticket and a $10,000 prize playing Keno nearly two decades ago, the Bel Air resident said he has never previously come close to winning such a large prize.
“This is by far the most money I gotten from a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket and it couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said.
The lucky winner said that after losing a business a few years ago, he’s been trying to catch up with paying off bills.
“I noticed I had a lot of debt after the dust settled from that business venture,” he said. “It was a very stressful time for me but with this $100,000 win, I don’t have to worry about that anymore.”
Jeffrey said that he’s probably going to plan a getaway to Las Vegas with his girlfriend of four years to celebrate his good fortune.
The Super Crossword game launched in December, and Jeffrey is the first player to win one of its $100,000 top prizes. But the ticket still has six more unclaimed $100,000 prizes, along with 24 $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000. His bought his winning ticket at the Weis Market at 550 West Mac Phail Road in Bel Air. The Harford County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
