Teacher claims top prize on Winner’s Luck scratch-off
An Upper Marlboro man headed back to school with the ultimate summer vacation story to share with his teaching colleagues: he won $100,000 playing the Maryland Lottery’s Winner’s Luck scratch-off!
The loyal Lottery player and new grandfather ended his summer vacation with the Lottery win. “It has been a very lucky week for me, for my family,” said the 68-year-old man. Lottery luck surprised the Prince George’s County resident after he visited Marlton Liquors in Upper Marlboro.
“I’d just returned from a long flight and wanted to get a Lottery ticket,” he said. “There was no lottery where I’d been visiting. I really enjoy the $10 instant games and have had luck with Winner’s Luck in the past, so I picked it.”
He went home to scratch his ticket and, once there, revealed an abundance of matches. The man was convinced that he was hallucinating. “I immediately called my daughter with the news,” the happy winner said.
He’s back in the classroom with a big smile and a healthy bank account until he decides how to spend his prize. A new car and a place to stay when visiting growing family are on his mind, as is a thank you to the folks at Marlton Liquor. For selling the top-tier scratch-off, the retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
Our happy player claimed the last of the $100,000 top prizes available for this scratch-off. There are still thousands of prize-winning tickets from $10 to $1,000 awaiting discovery at Maryland retailers.
