Finds $10,000 prize on Crossword Deluxe game
What a weekend! A Baltimore County man who plays Maryland Lottery scratch-offs every Friday picked a real winner when he selected a $10 Crossword Deluxe instant ticket. The game made for one heck of a Saturday and Sunday, not to mention the fun he had on Monday claiming his $10,000 prize.
“I’ve won plenty of times over the years, but nothing like this,” he said.
The construction inspector from Windsor Mill has followed a Friday play schedule as long as he can remember. He always picks out a different game, and the fun he has playing them serves as a kick-off for the weekend. The day he found Lottery luck, the loyal player bought the Crossword Deluxe game at Giant #362 located at 20944 Frederick Road in Germantown.
The 66-year-old scratched the bar code area of his winning ticket there in the grocery store. “I scanned it and saw that it was a big winner, but I didn’t know how much,” he said. Hurrying to his car, he scratched the remainder of the ticket’s play area. “The numbers kept increasing and increasing. I really couldn’t believe my eyes.”
Driving home Friday, he thought about what he might do with his winnings and just how to share the big news with his wife. “My birthday is coming up soon and she always takes me out to dinner,” he said. “I think I’ll tell her then so she can join in the fun of deciding how to spend our new money.”
Crossword Deluxe debuted in March and, even after this big win, still has plenty of prizes hiding in stores. Those prizes include five $100,000 top prizes and 17 more of those $10,000 winners.
