Winner Takes Home Win Days Before Christmas

Baltimore woman claims $30,000 scratch-off win

A 77-year-old great-grandmother from Baltimore had been waiting for several months to come in and claim her Fruit Twist Crossword winnings. Due to an illness, she was not able to cash the win until yesterday, a week before Christmas. Better late than never, the woman took home $30,000 just in time for the holidays.

The lucky winner loves crossword style games so much that she and had her son-in-law purchase several for her about three months ago. One of the Fruit Twist Crossword scratch-offs he picked out on her behalf was a top-prize winner. After she scratched her tickets, the woman immediately knew she had a winner. However, she still called her daughter to come check. “I figured it was a winner, but I needed another pair of eyes to check the card,” she said.

The winner kept the ticket in her bedroom drawer until her health was better to make the trip to Lottery headquarters with her daughter and grandson.

The kind-hearted granny plans to share some of her winnings with her four children. In addition, she plans to spoil her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The winning ticket was purchased at the Harford Convenience Store located at 3514 Harford Road in Baltimore City.
