Winning Convinces Player of His Lucky Lottery Number

Claims $50,000 prize on $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off

What’s your lucky number? A Montgomery County man has his answer after buying a $50,000 winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off.

The 26-year-old had no idea what instant ticket he was going to purchase when he walked into the Georgia Station retailer in Silver Spring. Then, the lucky player saw the ticket number “001” on a $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off and his choice was clear.

The Potomac man told Lottery officials that he thought to himself, “That is the first ticket, maybe this could be the lucky one.” He bought one of the game’s $20 scratch-offs, took it to his car and started to scratch off the instant ticket. He matched one number, then two and, before he knew it, he had matched four numbers and a lucky star for a total win of $50,000.

The happy man plans to save his winnings until he decides what to do with his prize. Try your luck at his Montgomery County retailer, which is located at 9331 Georgia Avenue. There are still three top prizes remaining on the $1,000,000 Platinum Play instant ticket. Players can also seek one of the six unclaimed $50,000 prizes, 18 unclaimed $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
