Found Lottery luck with Maximum Jackpot scratch-off
A $10,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off win gave a 24-year-old Sparrows Point woman the cash needed to relocate and reunite with her longtime boyfriend.
The loyal scratch-off player favors $10 instant tickets, having won $1,000 and $500 in the past. A waitress at an area restaurant, she stopped by Edgemere Convenience Store at 7308 North Point Road in Baltimore on Thursday to buy a scratch-off to play. The bright yellow $10 Maximum Jackpot game caught her eye and she started scratching it off in the store.
“I’ve always wanted to hit the ‘Win All’ symbol, and I did!” she said. “I was like, ‘I can’t be reading this right.’ I ran screaming out of the store!”
The first thing she did when she reached her car was phone her boyfriend, who lives out of state, to deliver her great news.
“I said, ‘Are you ready? I’m finally coming down!’” the happy winner said.
Her boyfriend works for a repossession company and she plans to find another server job in his town. After paying bills and moving expenses with her prize, the Baltimore County resident said she will set aside some funds to give to her nephew when he grows up.
The Maximum Jackpot game has more than 300,000 prizes awaiting discovery by Lottery players, including five $100,000 top prizes and 16 more $10,000 prizes. The game went on sale in May.
