A Queen Anne’s County insurance agent turned up at Maryland Lottery headquarters to handle a claim that was a far cry from those she deals with most days. Her claim involved a Winter Ice Multiplier scratch-off purchased back in January that carried a cool $100,000 payday.
Her top-prize win on the $10 game happened after a long drive. Nearly home, the Cordova resident stopped at Queenstown Mart.
“It was a fun trip visiting family and I wanted to pick up a few scratch tickets to keep the fun going,” she explained. Winter Ice Multiplier stood out among the store’s selection – remember, this was January and there was snow on the ground.
“I scratched it there in the store, had just one of the five Winning Numbers and just one of the 25 My Numbers,” she said. “They matched, which I couldn’t believe, and when I scratched beneath, I was just blown away.”
Not convinced that the $100,000 top prize she saw was real, the 63-year-old asked the store owner to check her scratch-off for a win. “He scanned it and told me that he couldn’t cash the prize” because of its amount, she said. “That’s when I knew for sure.”
The mother of two and grandmother to two more plans to use her winnings to advance her retirement schedule. She found her $100,000 nest egg at Queenstown Mart located at 4638 Ocean Gateway Highway in Queenstown. For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, the store earned a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
