$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Lanham as Jackpot Soars to $1 Billion

Three Powerball players in Maryland missed the jackpot by one number in the drawing last night (Dec. 10), including one in Lanham whose ticket is worth $1 million. No one matched all six numbers, so the jackpot rolled to an annuity value of $1 billion with a cash option of $461.3 million.

The $1 million winner matched all of the first five balls drawn, but not the red Powerball. The other two matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball for wins of $150,000 in Hughesville and $50,000 in Bel Air, respectively.

No one has matched all six Powerball numbers since Sept. 6, when players in Texas and Missouri split a jackpot with an annuity value of $1.787 billion.

The current annuity jackpot of $1 billion is the seventh largest since the inception of Powerball in 1992.

None of the three winning tickets for the Dec. 10 drawing in Maryland has been claimed. They are:

  • A $1 million second-tier ticket sold the day of the drawing at the at 7-Eleven at 7730 Finns Lane in Lanham (Prince George’s);
  • A $150,000 third-tier ticket with the Power Play option added sold the day of the drawing at the Jameson-Harrison American Legion Post 238 at 6265 Brandywine Road in Hughesville (Charles); and
  • A $50,000 third-tier ticket sold the day of the drawing at Klein’s Shoprite at 223 North Main Street in Bel Air (Harford).

The Lottery encourages all of the winners to sign their tickets and put them in safe places. All tickets worth more than $25,000 must be claimed by appointment through Lottery headquarters within 182 days of the drawing date.
