Returning home from a doctor’s appointment on Sept. 12, a hungry lottery fan decided to stop by a restaurant to end the fast necessary for some of his medical tests. He added a Racetrax ticket to his order and walked out with a full stomach and a full wallet.
The Baltimore County player only has eyes for Racetrax when in the mood to play the Lottery, buying tickets two or three times a week, he said Dec. 17 when he claimed his $43,800 prize. He also had a system which had worked very well for him.
Note the past tense.
“I’ve won three big Racetrax prizes over the years using the same number combination,” he said, “But that third one was a long while ago.”
Sitting down at Towne Tavern in Cockeysville for a much-needed meal, he planned to try his luck with his favorite game, but with a new method for picking his horses, one he kept to himself.
“When my horses came through for me, it was a huge surprise,” he said. A second surprise followed moments later. “I always get the bonus when I play Racetrax so I looked to see what it was for my race.” When he saw that the prize multiplier was 5X, it was an even bigger shock, he said, adding, “$43,800 on a quinella wager. My biggest win ever!”
If you visit Towne Tavern at 10257 York Road you’re likely to find an especially happy employee there because, when asked about plans for his winnings, the Racetrax player said: “A big tip for the bartender and the rest goes to my wife.”
In addition, Towne Tavern receives a bonus of $438, equal to 1% of the prize total.
